GaN Technology

GaN stands for Gallium Nitride, a semiconductor with semi-conductive properties similar to silicon. GaN has superior physical advantages compared to silicon. It has been studied for about three decades but has only recently become widely used.

GaN’s advantages over silicon include higher heat resistance, higher current tolerance, and electron mobility 1,000 times greater than silicon. On processors (CPU, GPU), which often use low voltage, GaN is not really a replacement. However, for high-power adapters and chargers, GaN is an excellent solution. It is used in diodes, transistors, and amplifiers. 

Beyond chargers, GaN is also applied in 5G base stations. With higher electron mobility than silicon, GaN can handle higher currents with less heat dissipation – ideal for high-power 5G stations.
